Hi, I’m Rosa!

I love to share dance with adults — especially adult beginners!

My classes will introduce you to the movements of ballet and belly dance in a way that is accessible for people of all different abilities and stages of life.

Dance is for every body!

And these classes are about even more than the movements. We delve into cultural context and music, for deeper understanding.

I’m based in Portland, Maine, where I have been teaching dance for over 15 years. Ballet has been a beloved part of my life since childhood. Belly dance changed everything about how I relate to my body when I took my first class as an adult.

 Movement makes all the difference.

It can change mood, my ability to process setbacks, the way the news of the world affects me.

When I don’t move, everything seems much more challenging–both physically and emotionally.

Bringing dance, music, and genuine human connection into my life on a regular basis… this makes all the difference in my quality of life.

You don’t need a big space!

My classes have been designed for a small home space. If you can take 1-2 steps in each direction, and sit on the floor with your legs extended in front of you — you’re good to go!

While a wood floor is amazing, you’ll be able to take this class on any flooring — carpet, linoleum, tile, or wood.

What do I wear?

Wear leggings and a tank top or long sleeves for comfort.

Bare feet and a winter scarf for your hips are perfect for belly dance.

Non-grippy socks are great for ballet.

The most important thing is that you are comfortable!

Yes, these classes are for total beginners!

You don’t need to lose or gain weight.
You don’t need to be flexible, or have rhythm.

You just need to be ready to have fun and learn something new in a warm and supportive class with Rosa.
